What you need to know checklist - States of Matter
Know that Matter is anything that has mass and takes up space
• Know that the 3 states of matter are Solids, Liquids and Gases
• Describes the properties of the 3 states of matter
• Learn what molecule are and be able to say that the molecules in a solid are fixed and cannot move, the molecules in a liquid roll over and around each other
and that molecules in a gas are free to completely move away from each other
• Be able to say how matter can change state, ie. A liquid can become a gas when it is heated and evaporates, A liquid can become a solid when it is cooled and
frozen, A Gas can become a liquid when it is cooled and condenses, a solid can become a liquid when it is heated and melts
